Melissa Balmer - Founder/Director Pedal Love.org
Melissa Balmer is the Founder and Director of PedalLove.org. She is a writer, media relations specialist and speaker dedicated to growing more active, mindful mobility. Melissa worked as the Media Director for the California Bicycle Coalition, and has collaborated on special projects for the Electric Bike Association, Tempo Bicycles, Vision Zero Network, Metro Los Angeles, Pro Walk/Pro Bike: Pro Place 2012, and the Bike Long Beach.
Melissa's mission is to share the power of artistry and personally engaging storytelling to inspire. Her passion is to recruit fresh voices from diverse multi-generational perspectives to share their stories in traditional and new media platforms to engage new audiences.
Melissa has placed Pedal Love, its creative team, events and CalBike in local, regional, statewide and national news outlets such as the Associated Press, Bicycling Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, KABC News, Los Angeles Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Momentum Magazine, National Public Radio affiliates Houston Public Media, KCRW, KPCC, KQED, and the Texas Standard, the OC Weekly, the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco Chronicle, Sierra Club Magazine, and many more.
Melissa has lived car free in Long Beach since 2007. She deals with the symptoms of the auto-immune disorder Fibromyalgia which biking, walking and taking transit have helped with tremendously.
