The Three Feet for Safety Act will go into effect on September 16. The law requires motorists to give at least three feet of clearance when passing a bike in the same lane. But how will the public know about the new law? This is where you and the California Bicycle Coalition come in.

From day one of the long campaign to pass the Three Feet for Safety Act we knew that the key benefit of the bill was education. Enforcement is important but most violations won’t be seen by police officers. CalBike’s Three Feet for Safety Media Outreach Plan needs your help to ensure that the correct information about the law is shared far and wide.

Please join CalBike's Executive Director Dave Snyder and Media Director Melissa Balmer for a free webinar and conference call on Thursday August 28th. During this call we'll lay out a game plan to get the media in your region to cover the three-foot law and feature your organization.

For CalBike affiliates we’ll also provide a free media packet with a draft press release, visuals, sample video, and media contacts so that they can take advantage of media interest on the issue and educate motorists in their communities. If your organization isn't a CalBike affiliate the webinar is free but the cost for the media kit is $100.00 and can be purchased online after the webinar.
