With over 14,000 downloads a month it is one of the longest running and most popular bike advocacy radio podcasts in the country.

Meet Your Hosts

Charlie Gandy is a nationally recognized expert in bicycle and pedestrian advocacy, Charlie is a popular consultant and speaker known for sparking innovation. Charlie founded Bike Texas, created the Thunderhead Alliance retreat for biking and walking advocates, and the Bike Friendly Business Districts program in collaboration with Bike Long Beach.

As a program facilitator he has organized trainings in all fifty states and played a role in launching more than 30 biking and walking advocacy organizations around the U.S. including the California Bicycle Coalition, the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition and the Alliance for Biking and Walking. Charlie has recently been featured on the cover of the OC Weekly, on KPCC’s Air Talk and in the Los Angeles Times  for his leadership in bike advocacy.

Melissa Balmer is a writer, media relations specialist and speaker on a mission is to bring the connecting power of style and personally engaging storytelling to help showcase the bike as a tool for optimism. Melissa has placed Pedal Love/Women on Bikes California, its creative team, and now the California Bicycle Coalition in such media outlets as the Associated PressAmerican Bicyclist, Apparel News, Bicycling Magazine, Bicycling Retailer, City Lab, CNN Blogs, KABC News (Los Angeles), KCAL 9 News, LA Observed, Los Angeles Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Momentum Magazine, Sacramento Bee, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News and more.

An original member for the national Women Bike program advisory board of the League of the American Bicyclists, Melissa continues to serve on its Marketing & Media committee. In 2013 and 2014 she coordinated bike style events for BikeFest in Long Beach and was the Summit Coordinator for the Nov 2013 California by Bike Summit. Melissa has lived car free in Long Beach California since 2007. In September 2014 she took on an additional role as Media Director for the California Bicycle Coalition. She gives talks and webinars on basic media skills,"Why Style Matters in Storytelling," and "Why Media Matters" for growing bike culture.
