Fanstastic Photo Shoot + We're in the News!

Wow, what a busy exciting time it's been the last week or so. Earlier this week WoBSoCal had the great pleasure of hosting a photo shoot with the very talented fashion designer Nona Varnado for a feature in our upcoming January/February issue (to be posted by 1/15). The above shot by Allan Crawford is a little preview of Nona's beautiful bike friendly pieces. We love the shot of Bikestation COO & President Andrea White-Kjoss wearing a blue-grey velvet lined cape with reflective piping so much its become our emailer banner for the holidays! Doesn't she look the very image of Cycle Chic?

I'm delighted to share WoBSoCal was featured in this article yesterday in Bicycle Relailer so we have our first media piece! Special thanks to Editor Lynette Carpiet for the interview and the even better news is that she lives here in Long Beach.

I must admit it has been a little lean on sightings of bikes in the lifestyle print media of late. I was getting a little depress about it until I picked up a copy of the new December Town & Country magazine with Patti Hansen on the cover. And then guess what happy surprise awaited me? Right at the beginning of the editorial was a beautiful full page shot of a woman on a Velorbis bike (page 42) and it was an article on Mr. Cycle Chic himself Mikael Colville-Andersen (who also took the great photo). I was so excited. I think this is his first true lifestyle print piece in the U.S. And you know what's even better? He's coming to Long Beach next September to be a keynote speaker at the Pro Walk/Pro Bike conference!

Ok, yes, well I did have a little something to do with it as yours truly nominated him to the steering committee, but it was Andy Clarke, President of the League of American Bicyclists that made it possible financially with sponsorship. Thank you Andy! Sadly Town & Country doesn't have their digital game on the way say Vogue does, so I haven't been able to find the image + article online but I'm working on tracking it down.

I can't wait to start putting together our Cycle Chic "Dress for the Destination" urban bike fashion show for the end of Pro Walk/Pro Bike.

In closing for today I want to give a special shout out thank you to Sarai Snyder Creator/Editor of Girl Bike Love for the very kind email love for what we're doing here with WoBSoCal. I'm looking forward to 2012 and possible collaboration!
